Jal Jeevan Mission: 70% rural households have tap water connections in Maharashtra


55.10 lakh rural households get tap water supply in Maharashtra under Jal Jeevan Mission

Mumbai, 07th April 2022

A total of 103.54 lakh (70.88%) rural households have tap water connections in Maharashtra out of the total 146.09 lakh rural households in the state, as of 04th April 2022. At the time of announcement of Jal Jeevan Mission in 2019, only 48.44 lakh (33%) rural households were reported to have tap water connections in Maharashtra. Since then, tap water connections have been provided to additional 55.10 lakh (37.72%) rural households.

This information was given by Minister of State for Jal Shakti, Prahlad Singh Patel in written reply in Lok Sabha, today.

Jal Jeevan Mission

Since its launch in August 2019, Government of India in partnership with States, is implementing Jal Jeevan Mission – Har Ghar Jal to make provision of tap water supply to every rural household of  the country including  those of Maharashtra, by 2024.
