On the occasion of National Philately Day and ongoing 75th Anniversary celebration of Independence- Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Goa Postal Division released two Special cover on Unsung Heroes namely “Purushottam Kakodkar” and “Mohan Ranade” in the hands of Chief Guest, Col. S.F.H Rizvi, Postmaster General Goa Region, Panaji on 13th October 2021. The Special covers released today will be available for sale at Panaji Philatelic Counter, Panaji Head Post Office w.e.f. 13.10.2021.

   

Shri. Parind Kakodkar, Nephew of Late Purushotttam Kakodkar, Shri. Tamhane, Close assosiate of Late Mohan Ranade, Dr. Sudhir G Jakhere, Sr Supdt of Post offices, Goa Division, Shri. Sanjeev Sardesai, Goan Historian, Shri. Aslesh Kamat, Secretary, Goa Philatelic and Numismatic Society [GPNS] Goa, other family members of Late Purushotttam Kakodkar & Late Mohan Ranade and Postal Officials were present for the function held at Tapal Bhavan, Panaji.

Col. S.F.H Rizvi, Postmaster General Goa Region, Panaji in his presidential address elaborated the importance of Philately as medium of education for young generation. In the introductory address of Dr. Sudhir G Jakhere, Sr Supdt of Post offices, Goa Division, stated that the scarifies of these freedom fighters should be commemorated so that future generation could be inspired by their ideas. Shri. Sanjeev Sardesai, Goan Historian had a brief discussion about Goa Liberation during the programme. Shri. Aslesh Kamat, Secretary, Goa Philatelic and Numismatic Society [GPNS] Goa discussed the future road map of  Philatelic activities to be conducted in the State of Goa.
