Hon'ble Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs, Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, addressed the Officers of Income Tax Dept. at Taj Coromandal, Chennai, today. This was followed by an interactive session, especially with young Officers, on various aspects of functioning of the Department. Revenue Secretary Shri Tarun Bajaj, IAS, CBDT Chairman Shri J B Mohapatra, IRS and Pr.CCIT, Shri D C Patwari, IRS were present.

Hon'ble Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs, Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman inaugurated 19 storied “SIGARAM” Type-VI Tower (Residential Quarters)- at Aayakar Bhawan, Nungambakkam, Chennai on 30.09.2021 in the presence of Revenue Secretary ShriTarun Bajaj, IAS, CBDT Chairman Shri J B Mohapatra, IRS, Pr.CCIT, Shri D C Patwari, IRS. Other distinguished dignitaries also graced the occasion. 

There was no Type VI Quarters in Tamilnadu and to cater to the residential needs of Officers in the Department, the project for construction of Type VI Residential Quarters was taken up and the construction work commenced on 28.05.2016.  The total overall cost of the project is aroundRs.65 Crore excluding land value.  The overall plinth area for the quarters is 13,590 sq. m. and the plinth area of a residential unit is 243.48 sq.m.  The special features of the building include Multi-level Mechanized Car Parking facility in stacks for 120 cars, provision of 2 passenger lifts and 1 goods lift, a 125 KVA DG set, rooftop solar power facility, 25,000 litres capacity Sewage Treatment Plant, centralized garbage collection system, etc.
