Webinar on “Career Counselling During Pandemic & Fear of Vaccination Drive in Youth”

Field Outreach Bureau, Coimbatore & Press Information Bureau, Ministry of I & B, Government of India, Chennai  in coordinatiin with Karpagam academy of higher education, Coimbatore organized a Webinar on Career Counselling During Pandemic &  Vaccination Drive in Youth on 10th June, 2021 Afternoon.

Shri J. Kamaraj, IIS, Director, Regional Outreach Bureau, Chennai welcomed  the dignitaries . In his address he  pointed out that organising a webinar insisting on vaccination among youth is the need of the hour . He  added that awareness activities on COVID Vaccination should be taken up  by the youth in their vicinity as that will encourage the public to take vaccination without hesitation. He further  stressed on the importance of Career counselling to students in a pandemic scenario as that would help them reinvent their strengths and help in focussing on their career goals.

While highlighting the theme, Dr. G.K.D. Prasanna Venkatesan, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, Karpagam Academy of Higher Education, Coimbatore said that Mental Health became a primary concern for every individual in the pandemic time and hoped that the all round efforts of the Government would end the pandemic soon. The Pandemic has  taught us effective methodology of teaching the students, he added. He hoped that these kind of webinars definitely help the students in trying to cope with an unprecedented  situation mentally and academically too.

In his presidential address, Shri M. Annadurai, IIS, Addl. Director General, ROB/PIB, Ministry of I & B, Chennai spoke about the importance of choosing right action from the abundance of knowledge gathered in an information era that we live in.  He enthused the students to adopt scientific bent of mind in dealing with the plethora of information exchanged in social media to identify and get rid of the fake ones. Such careless attitude especially sharing fake messages has discouraged many in taking vaccination seriously, he warned.

While delivering the inaugural address, Shri B. Ilangovan, IRAS, Addl. Divisional Railway Manager, Chennai Railways Division, Chennai said that the topic is highly relevant in the ongoing pandemic. One  should take this crisis as an opportunity to learn  new methodologies of teaching & learning rather than the conventional methods, he added. He further advised students not to believe in rumours about vaccination as no untoward incident was reported from near 18000  railways of chennai division who had been inoculated so far.

Shri Charles Godwin, HR Leader, Zoho Corporation, Chennai in his address said that it is important to thank the technology which is connecting us. Self-responsibility and safety are the basic etiquettes the pandemic taught us. Similarly, Self learning gains importance in the upcoming digital education era, he added. He urged the students to build upon their strengths while  shedding  the negative vibes altogether .He cited the examples of the personalities behind a  variety of corporates that started from the scratch before becoming billion dollar companies.

Shri Imran Ahamed, Director, Infinite Edge Training, Coimbatore said adaptability is key to one's success today   and  the students should keep themselves updated with the emerging skill sets to sustain in todays world.

Dr. M. Deivanayaki, Head, Department of Science & Humanities, Karpagam Academy of Higher Education,   Coimbatore concluded the webinar by expressing the gratitude towards the guest for their participation.

At last, Smt. Kareena B Thengamam, Deputy Director, Field Outreach Bureau, Coimbatore concluded the webinar by proposing  vote of thanks.

Smt. Jaya moderated the session and  students from various colleges  participated in the webinar.
