   Two persons arrested in this connection

Acting on a specific intelligence, on 09.04.2021, NCB Chennai Zonal Unit intercepted a passenger at Departure Hall, Chennai Airport. The passenger was travelling in flight to Sharjah via Hyderabad. A thorough search of her baggage was carried out by the team and 3 kgs of Charas was recovered. The Charas was concealed in a space made in the thermocol, in-between the wall of Ice Box. This passenger namely C.Karpagam, resident of Mylapore, Chennai was arrested. In a swift follow up action, NCB team also apprehended another person namely M. Mohaideen R/o Ramnad District, Tamil Nadu, who had handed over the seized contraband to the said passenger.

NCB acknowledges the dedicated efforts of Sh. Amit Ghawate (Zonal Director, NCB Chennai), Sh Prakash R (Supt), Sh Suresh Kumar(Supt), Sh Shanmugham,IO and other officers associated to the case at NCB, Chennai Zonal Unit.

Charas which is also known as Hashish, is extracted from Ganja plants. Two of the major Ganja cultivating regions in India are the hilly terrains of Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir. The potent Hashish extracted from the Ganja cultivated in a small village named Malana in the Parvati Valley of Kullu district is world famous and is lovingly called ‘Malana Cream’ by the faithful.
