Union Minister Shri Prakash Javadekar attends ‘Cauvery Calling’ Event to mark the International Forest Day, at Bengaluru


‘We Must ensure Water is preserved; We have no right to abuse water’: Shri Prakash Javadekar

Union Minister of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Information & Broadcasting and Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises, Shri Prakash Javadekar, today attended  ‘Cauvery Calling, Forest to Farm: The way forward’ event  at Bengaluru, to mark the International day of forest. The event organised by Isha Foundation was also graced by Chief Minister of Karnataka, Shri B.S. Yediyurappa, Health Minister, K. Sudhakar & founder of the organisation, Shri  Sadguru among other dignitaries.

Speaking at the event, Union Minister, Shri Prakash Javdekar said that “We should ensure to save every drop of water that rain brings; ensure its percolation;  Save Water and generate water.  We must ensure Water is used scarcely; Save Water, Recycle Water & reuse it. We Must ensure Water is preserved; We have no right to abuse water. Its our Duty to preserve the rivers”. The Minister also congratulated the efforts of the foundation in this direction. 

Further the Minister also mentioned the incidents of animal- man conflict and how the project to augment fodder and water in forests reduces these incidents. The Union Minister also mentioned that he always welcomed people initiatives to conserve environment and that we must unite to conserve and preserve.
Speaking at the event Chief Minister of Karnataka, Shri B.S. Yediyurappa congratulated efforts of the organisation to preserve environment and enumerated the various afforestation measures and other initiate of the Government of Karnataka in preserving forests.  

Addressing the event, Shri Sadguru enumerated the various aspects of Cauvery River revitalisation and other aspects of environmental recovery. 

Later in the event the Union Minister felicitated the Farmers from the Cauvery river basin districts of Karnataka who have adopted tree-based farming by presented Saplings to them.
