HQMC, IAF, Nagpur signs MoU with CSIR-NAL

Head Quarters Maintenance Command & Depots (HQMC), IAF, Nagpur has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with CSIR-National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL), Bengaluru for co-operation and promotion of research and development in areas of mutual interest and undertaking joint research programmes.
The proposed areas for collaboration in various fields of Engineering encompass Aerospace, Mechanical, Metallurgical Sciences and Composite Technology. Specific research programmes would be evolved in Propulsion and Propulsion system, Steel Technology, Metallurgy & Material Sciences and Corrosion Science which will benefit both the organisations.
The MoU was signed by Air Vice Marshal VC Wankhade Air Officer in Charge Engineering Services, HQMC and Shri. Jitendra J Jadhav, Director, CSIR-NAL in the presence of key officials Group Captain Bhushan P Mahajan, Group Captain HJ Singh, Dr. J S Mathur, Head KTMD, Dr.Ramesh Sundaram, Head ACD & CSMST, Dr. D Saji, Sr. Principal Scientist and others.

National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL), a constituent of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), India, established in the year 1959 is the only government aerospace R&D laboratory in the country’s civilian sector. CSIR-NAL is a high-technology oriented institution focusing on advanced disciplines in aerospace. The mandate of CSIR-NAL is to develop aerospace technologies with strong science content, design and build small and medium-size civil aircraft and support all national aerospace programmes.
About HQMC
Maintenance Command is a command of the Indian Air Force. It was raised as Maintenance Group at Chakeri in Kanpur in 1950. In 1955, it was designated as Maintenance Command. Its current headquarters is located at Vayusena Nagar in Nagpur (Maharashtra); it handles the repair, overhaul and maintenance of all aircraft, helicopters and other equipment. MC has about nine Base Repair Depots taking care of the overhaul and maintenance of various types of aircraft.
