Posted On: 13 NOV 2020 2:36PM by PIB Chennai

Covid 19 pandemic lockdown has affected senior citizens as they are unable to move out especially to crowded places. Every November pensioners should provide life certificates to their banks. Covid 19 pandemic had made it difficult for pensioners to travel to banks to provide life certificates. Pensioners can utilise the facilities provided by India Post to give life certificate through Aadhar enabled system. India Post Payments Bank (IPPB),  will facilitate the generation of digital life certificate. This service will be offered to IPPB as well as non-IPPB customers. DLC services may be availed at India Post counters (through Micro-ATM) or by the Postmen at doorstep. Once pensioner’s Pramaan ID is generated,  Digital Life Certificate can be downloaded using the following the link https://jeevanpramaan.gov.in   .  Charges applicable for DLC services are Rs. 70 (inclusive of GST/ CESS/ DSB) for each successful digital life certificate generation. No doorstep charges are levied for IPPB or Non IPPB customers.

Tiruchirapalli Postal authorities said that pensioners can utilise the postal services for submitting life certificate to pension disbursement agency. They will get digital life certificate through Aadhar enabled system at their residence itself as old people will not be able to travel to their banks during pandemic period. Pensioners in Tiruchirapalli and Ariyalur districts can contact their postmen or nearby post offices to know more about the scheme. Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY) is operating Jeevan Pramaan portal. With this the pensioner need not visit office of Disbursing Agency for physical submission of Life Certificate and can use the Aadhaar enabled Biometric authentication mechanism to generate Digital Life Certificate. The Digital Life certificate is a biometric enabled digital service for pensioners. Pensioners of Central Government, State Government or any other Government organization can take benefit of this facility.  The pensioner must have a Aadhaar number  and existing mobile number. Smt Kumari Krishnan pensioner said that she finds it difficult to go to bank as it is risky to travel to the bank during covid 19 period. The digital life certificate scheme will be really useful as pensioners can get their life certificates at home itself and submit to their banks digitally.

Digital life certificate is really a boon for pensioners who are unable to travel and are having health issues. During covid 19 pandemic times India Post is delivering the digital life certificate service to pensioners to help them in trying times.
