DIKSHA PORTAL -ONE NATION ONE DIGITAL PLATFORM 73.28 LAKH TRAINING SESSIONS HELD UNDER DIKSHA IN TAMIL NADU

Covid 19 pandemic forced lockdown has led to close down of schools and colleges for months together since the end of March. For the safety of students,  governments had issued orders not to open educational institutions as the pandemic was spreading. Many schools and colleges are utilising Online classes to impart education to students. www.diksha.gov.in  portal of union Ministry of Human resources  Education acts as unified portal for students, teachers and even parents providing study material. It reflects the government vision of one nation one digital platform.

Diksha serves as National Digital Infrastructure for Teachers and most of the modern teachers are having digital knowledge. Diksha portal will enable, accelerate and amplify solutions in teacher education. It will aid teachers to learn and train themselves for which assessment resources will be available. It will help teachers to create training content, profile, in-class resources, assessment aids, news and announcement and connect with teacher community. States, government bodies and even private organisations, can integrate DIKSHA into their respective teacher initiatives based on their goals, needs and capabilities. They can use DIKSHA's features to create in-class resources, teacher training content, assessment aids, teacher profile, news and announcement and integrate with teacher community. Teacher training courses, teaching resources such as lesson plans, concept videos, worksheets assessments for teachers, to find out their strengths and areas of improvement. Teachers can download and access this material  on their smartphones,  tablets and other devices anytime and anywhere. Material will be contextualised to local languages as well as mapped to the curriculum.

In Tamil Nadu, till now there were 73.28 lakh training sessions under DIKSHA showing its popularity. Smt Ananthy senior teacher from Tiruchirapalli says that through online education students are not missing classes. Students are able to clear their doubts with teachers through online platforms Zoom or google meet.

National teacher Platform contains courses for teachers to enable continuous learning resources for use in classrooms, dashboards for progress and assessment, communities for collaboration and discussions, announcements, notifications and circulars. The National Teacher Platform will be available to all teachers, anytime, anywhere. It will be a minimal and generalised technology platform built using Open Standards and Application Program Interfaces (APIs) and will host Open Educational Resources (OER). It will also have tools and interfaces for the creation and consumption of teaching and learning content.

Education is a continuous process and no impediment not even pandemic lockdown can stop the flow of knowledge. Online education has saved the future of students with teachers interacting through internet platforms to impart education. Government is continuously helping students to get quality education without any hindrance, as learning cannot afford to be stopped even in a pandemic situation.
