Out of the above, one survey for a length of 65 Km. of new railway lines has been undertaken in Andhra Pradesh. During the same period three surveys for a length of 1176 km. have been completed.
As on 01.04.2020, 23,765 RKM of Broad Gauge routes are yet to be electrified.
Survey activity is a continuous dynamic process and proper monitoring of progress is done at various level including Zonal Railway and Railway Board.
To expedite electrification of railway lines in the country, various steps have been taken, including award of large size Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) contracts, better project monitoring mechanism, assured/committed funds through Extra Budgetary Resources (Institutional Finance), decentralization of powers to field units.
This information was given by the Minister of Railways and Commerce & Industry, Shri Piyush Goyal in a written reply to a question in Lok Sabha today.
