#VandeBharatMission flights from Manila and London land at Chennai


Chennai Customs facilitates smooth clearance for all passengers

  Chennai Customs has facilitated smooth clearance for the 500 passengers of the two Vande Bharat repatriation flights from Manila and London which landed at Chennai on Thursday night and Friday morning respectively.  

 The flight Air India AI 1379 from Manila, Philippines landed at 2205 Hrs on Thursday 14th May at Chennai International Airport carrying 167 passengers of which 110 were male and 57 were female passengers. This was the eighth relief flight under the Vande Bharat Mission landing at Chennai.

  The second flight Air India AI 1570 from London, UK via Mumbai landed at  0755 Hrs on Friday 15th May carrying 333 passengers including 202 males, 126 females and 5 Infants. This was the ninth flight that reached Chennai as part the Vande Bharat evacuation mission.

 All the passengers of both the aircrafts were facilitated smooth customs clearance by Chennai Airport Customs while observing due Covid-19 protection measures.

  Due to the Covid-19 pandemic situation, all the international flights to and from India have been grounded since 22nd March.  Government of India’s repatriation plan Vande Bharat Mission has started to bring the Indian nationals stranded abroad due to Covid-19 from 7th May onwards. In the first phase of this evacuation plan 11 flights were scheduled to arrive in Tamil Nadu of which nine relief flights arrived at Chennai .
