Ministry of I&B’s Regional Outreach Bureau (Mahrashtra & Goa region) launches several new initiatives to tackle Covide-19 threat in Maharashtra through multi-pronged approach.

DIGITAL MEDIA AWARENESS CAMPAIGN:

With a view to spread awareness about COVID-19, the Regional Outreach Bureau (ROB) of Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India, has been developing engaging digital content focusing on different aspects of the pandemic. The messaging focuses on maintaining good personal hygiene, abiding strict lockdown by staying at home, maintaining adequate social distancing at public places, complying with government orders and guidelines, downloading Aarogya setu app, listing of essential services allowed under lockdown, focusing on mental & physical health and avoiding rumour mongering. These creatives are uploaded on social media accounts of ROB and are also circulated through WhatsApp by ROB’s staff and officials to their contacts. More than 13,000 persons are directly reached through WhatsApp based messaging daily.

 

TRAVELING AUDIO ANNOUNCEMENT AWARENESS CAMPAIGN:

ROB has also launched a traveling audio announcement campaign in rural areas of Maharashtra and Goa using thematic three wheelers/ auto rickshaws/ tempos with pre-recorded Corona songs and messages. The audio messaging is primarily focused on various preventive measures and initiatives taken by the government to contain the spread of COVID-19. In order to make messaging more effective, the songs are made in local languages and dialects.

The campaign was launched across 16 Covid-19 affected districts of Maharashtra & Goa, viz : Pune, Parbhani, Nasik, Nanded, Latur, Solapur, Satara, Osmanabad, Kolhapur, Jalgaon, Amravati, Aurangabad, Buldhana, Ahmednagar, Beed & south Goa. During this campaign, a total of 23 Auto Rickshaws travelled across 16 districts, covering nearly 7000 kms of distance from 7th to 14th April 2020.


 

 

TESTIMONIALS/ FEEDBACK RECEIVED – BRIDGE BETWEEN PEOPLE & GOVT:

ROB is also actively engaged into an intensive drive to collect grass-root level feedback from the beneficiaries of various government schemes in urban/rural areas of Maharashtra & Goa. The feedback received on various government schemes and initiatives introduced during the lockdown period is communicated back to the government. Thus, ROB is not only carrying out awareness activities about COVID-19 but is also working as a bridge between the people and the government.

The Regional Outreach Bureau is also assisting the Fact Checking Unit of Government of India, set up in the Press Information Bureau, as per the Supreme Court’s orders to curb rumours, misinformation and circulation of hate speech, by liaisoning with District administration authorities.

The Regional Outreach Bureau is the media unit of the Ministry of information and Broadcasting, Government of India, with its headquarter in Pune, for Maharashtra and Goa region. It is mandated for various communication and outreach activities for Government of India, through its 10 field offices in the state.
