The project of widening of road connecting Kollam port to NH 744 for a length of 3 Km has been identified for development under port connectivity projects.  Preparation of DPR for NH-744 connecting Kollam- Thirumangalam near Madurai has been taken up to be developed under Bharatmala Pariyojana Phase I through National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).  From Madurai to Thoothukudi, the existing NH-38 (Old NH-45B) has already been 4-laned under BOT (Toll) mode and completed in the year 2011.

This information was given by Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Shri Nitin Gadkari in a written reply in Lok Sabha today.
