‘Samajik Adhikarita Shivir’ & mega distribution Camp of Assistive Aids and Devices to Sr. Citizens under Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana and to Divyangjan under ADIP Scheme to be organized in Kalol, Gandhinagar, Gujarat on 25th October, 2019

Central Government is committed towards the social welfare and empowerment of Divyangjan by building an inclusive society in which equal opportunities are provided for the growth and development of Persons with Disabilities so that they can lead productive, safe and dignified lives. In this endeavor, ‘Samajik Adhikarita Shivir’ and a mega distribution Camp of Assistive Aid and Devices to Senior Citizens under Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana and to Divyangjan under ADIP Scheme of DEPwD, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment is being organised on 25th October, 2019 by ALIMCO in association and full support from District Administration Gandhinagar at KIRC Campus, Kalol, Gandhinagar.

In this mega camp, 9966 numbers of daily living Assistive Aids and Devices of different type for various categories will be distributed free of cost among 3620 Nos. of Divyangjan under ADIP Scheme & 1164 Sr. Citizens (belonging to BPL category) under Rashtriya Vayoshree Yoajna Scheme i.e. total 4784 Nos. of beneficiaries. Total value of the Assistive aids and devices to be distributed at the camp will be amounting approx. Rs 520 lakhs.

Shri Amit Shah, Union Minister for Home Affairs will be the Chief guest and Shri Vijay Rupani, Chief Minister of Gujarat will be the Guest of Honour at the function. The function will be inaugurated in the presence of Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot, Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment. The function will be organised in the august presence of Shri Nitin Patel, Deputy Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Kaushik Kumar Patel, Revenue Minister, Govt. of Gujarat, Shri Pradeep Singh Jadeja, Home Minister, Govt. of Gujarat, Shri Ishwarbhai Parmar, Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of Gujarat and other dignitaries.

 The objective of the event is to facilitate and propagate information among general public particularly to Divyangjan and Senior Citizen belonging to BPL category of the district with their needs of Day-to-day living and generates other avenues for their Socio-economic development. These include barrier free movement, Aid and Appliances needed for various type of disabilities, vocational training for self-employment, access to easy loans for entrepreneurship and employment opportunity.

 With a view to maximise intended benefits to Senior Citizens and Divyangjan in the district of Gandhinagar, ALIMCO was asked by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India to conduct assessment camps. Accordingly, these camps were conducted with full support from district administration. The Assessment camps of Senior Citizens were conducted at Block level at 18 locations in Gandhinagar district during the period 18th July to 06th August, 2019, in which a total of 4784 beneficiaries were registered.

 The camps where number of beneficiaries are more than 1000 and the value of appliances is more than Rs. 1 crore, are called Mega Camps.  Moreover, the camps which are initiated or conducted on the request of Ministers, Member of Parliament or MLAs are also done in a similar transparent manner and also to inform about the central government run schemes among the masses. The ministry has so far conducted 522 such camps in last 5 years. The camp at Gandhinagar will be 523rd Camp.

Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojna (RVY) was introduced in December 2016 and the launching of scheme was done by conducting the first distribution camp at Nellore (Andhra Pradesh) on 1st April 2017, in the august presence of the Vice President of India, Shri M. Venkiah Naidu. During last 3 years, 115 such camps have been conducted by ALIMCO. The camp being organised at Gandhinagar will be the 116th Camp planned  on 25th October, 2019  camp under Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana.
