The Indian Digital Gaming Society (IDGS), in partnership with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting successfully organized a series of events under the WAVES (Word Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit) outreach program to fuel the innovations in India's digital gaming sector. The three-day GameForge Program a pioneering skill-sync initiative by the Indian Digital Gaming Society (IDGS) concluded today at Chitkara University, the earlier two events, were held at NorthCap University (NCU) on January 28, 2025, and at Chitkara International School on 30th Jan 2025 and today. The 3-day event has been aimed at equipping students with essential gaming and esports career skills.
GameForge at Chitkara University – January 31, 2025
Chitkara University hosted the final GameForge event, attracting 1,000+ students and industry leaders for immersive discussions and skill-building sessions. A key panel focused on the evolution of the AVGC-XR sector and how government initiatives like WAVES support India's gaming ecosystem. These events brought together academia, industry leaders, and aspiring professionals to explore the vast opportunities for innovation, particularly in game development and related sectors. During the events around 1500 Students were introduced to cutting-edge advancements and the potential for creative and technological innovation within the rapidly growing gaming ecosystem.
Key topics included the impact of esports on education, the potential of experiential learning, and the role of emerging technologies like AI, AR, VR, and XR in shaping the future of gaming. The event also underscored the importance of industry-academia collaboration in bridging the talent gap. Speakers like Mr. G Kartik (Pixel Visual Effects) and Mr. Abhinav Chokhavatia (Zatun) shared insights on the latest gaming trends and skills needed to succeed in this dynamic field.


GameForge at Chitkara International School – January 30, 2025
The event, attended by 500+ students, explored the fast-evolving gaming and esports industry. Supported by MIB, CII, and IDGS, it featured sessions on Why Gaming is the Future and Sports vs. Esports. In the inaugural session, chaired by Mediapreneur Mr Indrajit Ghosh, experts like Mr. Saurabh Shah (KRAFTON India) and Mr Sanand Salil Mitra (SporTech Innovation Lab) discussed integrating technologies like AR, VR, and gaming into education. The session also highlighted the booming AVGC sector and the skills needed for success in these fields.


GameForge at The NorthCap University, Gurugram – January 28, 2025
At NorthCap University (NCU), an innovative skill-sync initiative by the Indian Digital Gaming Society (IDGS) in partnership with ICT Academy, featured engaging panel discussions on topics such as Bridging the Talent Gap, Gaming Beyond Entertainment, and Emerging Trends in Gaming and Esports, with Mr. Ashutosh Mohle, Joint Director, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MI&B) highlighting the WAVES initiative. The event, with 500+ student participants, focused on bridging the talent gap in India’s growing gaming and esports sector. It also featured the Innovate2Educate Device Design Challenge, fostering creativity and innovation to strengthen industry-academia collaboration and position India as a global gaming leader.

Waves Handheld Video Game Design Challenge
A key highlight of these events was the WAVES Handheld Video Game Design Challenge, which shifts focus beyond software to include hardware innovation. The challenge requires participants to use microcontrollers for game development, promoting end-to-end video game solutions—a crucial step in fostering hardware capabilities within India’s gaming industry.
This growth in gaming is expected to have a ripple effect across the AVGC (Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, and Comics) sector, driving advancements in AI, VFX, and animation. As big-budget films increasingly integrate VFX and gaming technologies, India’s entertainment industry is poised for a revolutionary transformation.
The GameForge initiative is a testament to the boundless possibilities within the gaming industry and its potential to shape the careers of tomorrow's leaders.
