The Department of Rural Development has successfully concluded the Special Campaign 6 during 2nd – 31st Oct. 2026. During the campaign, insurance coverage under the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) have been extended to all contractual employees of the Department, including Safai Karamcharis. The entire premium cost for providing insurance coverage under both schemes has been borne by the Department.
As part of its efforts to promote and sustain workplace cleanliness and administrative efficiency, the Department organised the Nirmal Desk Challenge 2026, an internal initiative aimed at fostering a culture of cleanliness, hygiene and organised workspaces. The challenge concluded with felicitating the top performers in recognition of their efforts towards maintaining clean, orderly and efficient workspaces.
Demonstrating its commitment to the health, well-being and welfare of its outsourced workforce, the Department organised a dedicated Health Check-up Camp on 22 October 2026 in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The camp benefitted over 250 outsourced employees, including Safai Karamcharis, by providing comprehensive health screening facilities.
100% targets have been achieved by disposal of 20 Parliamentary Assurances, 5 IMC References (Cabinet Proposals), 24 State Government References, 6 PMO References, 1,012 Public Grievances and 194 Public Grievance Appeals during the Campaign. During the campaign, the Department conducted 25,268 cleanliness activities against the target of 25,000.
The campaign also resulted in revenue generation of ₹28.94 lakh, including revenue from e-waste disposal, and freeing up of 55,026 square feet of office space through systematic disposal of obsolete records, e-waste and unused furniture and equipment.
Under the Record Management initiative, the Department reviewed all t h e 5,108 physical files and 3,878 e-files identified for review, achieving 100% completion in both categories. Further, 3,039 physical files were weeded out and 1,985 e-files were closed, taking the total number of files weeded out and closed to 5,024. These efforts contributed towards reducing record pendency and improving efficiency in record management.
The Department also undertook various initiatives to promote environmental awareness and employee well-being. These included t h e distribution of indoor plants, anti-tobacco awareness activities, essay writing and poster making competitions and felicitation of Safaimitras.
The successful conclusion of Special Campaign 6 reflects the Department's continued commitment to institutionalising Swachhata, ensuring the timely disposal of pending matters, strengthening record management, optimising the utilisation of office space and promoting employee welfare. The significant achievements demonstrate the collective efforts and active participation of all Divisions (including Autonomous Bodies) and employees of the Department in making the campaign a success.
