The 121st Issue of Sarvekshana, the premier bi-annual Journal of Official Statistics was released by National Statistical Systems Training Academy (NSSTA), Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation (MoSPI).

Sarvekshana serves as a prominent platform for disseminating research based on data from National Sample Survey (NSS) and other Official Statistics. Recognised for its academic rigour and policy relevance, the journal contributes to the advancement of statistical research and promotes the wider use of official statistical data. It is circulated among researchers, data users, Ministries/Departments, and reputed national and international institutions.

The 121st Issue features three technical papers, addressing diverse and significant aspects of Official Statistics, namely :-

  1. Impact of In-kind Social Transfer on Level of Living of Indian Households.
  2. Role of Size of Factories in Efficiency – A Study Based on Data from Annual Survey of Industries (ASI) 2022–23.
  3. Effect of Adopting PPS Circular Systematic Sampling in Annual Survey of Industries: A Simulation Study.

Each paper has undergone a rigorous peer-review and editorial process to ensure its quality, accuracy, and relevance. The studies contribute to a deeper understanding of statistical methodologies, industrial efficiency and the role of social transfers in shaping household living standards.

In addition to the technical papers, the Issue presents highlights of two Surveys conducted by the NSS, viz. the Annual Survey of Unincorporated Sector Enterprises (ASUSE) 2025 (January–December 2025) and the Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) 2025 (January–December 2025). The inclusion of these highlights provides readers with key insights into the unincorporated sector and labour market trends, further enhancing the issue's relevance for researchers, policymakers, and other users of official statistics.

Through the continued publication of Sarvekshana, NSSTA reaffirms its commitment to fostering research in Official Statistics, encouraging the wider application of statistical data, and strengthening the analytical foundations of evidence-based policymaking. The Journal remains an important medium for sharing statistical knowledge, promoting methodological innovation, and supporting informed decision-making.
