Financial assistance can play an important role in helping individuals from disadvantaged communities establish sustainable livelihoods and improve their economic condition. Timely support for self-employment can provide opportunities to create income sources, strengthen family financial security and promote greater self-reliance.

Shri Durgesh Barkhane, a resident of Junardev, Chhindwara, Madhya Pradesh, was selected under the NSFDC Electric Auto-Rickshaw Subsidy Scheme, 2024 and received financial assistance of Rs. 1,85,000. The assistance enabled him to acquire an auto-rickshaw and establish a source of livelihood for himself and his family.

Before receiving the assistance, Shri Durgesh was unemployed and had no stable source of income. Limited financial resources made it difficult for him to meet the basic needs of his family and maintain a secure livelihood.

With the financial assistance received under the scheme, he purchased an auto-rickshaw for approximately Rs. 15,000–20,000 and began earning through its operation. The livelihood opportunity has improved his financial condition and brought a noticeable positive change in his life. He is now able to contribute towards his family’s sustenance and well-being with greater dignity and confidence.

The assistance has provided Shri Durgesh with an opportunity to pursue self-employment and move towards greater financial stability. His experience demonstrates how timely financial support can create livelihood opportunities and help individuals become economically self-reliant.

Shri Barkhane expressed his heart, “The financial assistance gave me an opportunity to become self-reliant through an auto-rickshaw. It has improved my financial condition and enabled me to support my family with greater dignity.”
