National-Level SafaiMitra Suraksha Evam Samman Shivir Reaches Over 3.69 Lakh Beneficiaries Across 3,870 ULBs
Shivir Facilitates Over 3.02 Lakh Health Check-ups, 2.24 Lakh NAMASTE Card Downloads and Distribution of 1.28 Lakh PPE Kits to SafaiMitras

Over 3,800 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs), Rural Local Bodies (RLBs) and line departments participated in a national-level SafaiMitra Suraksha Evam Samman Shivir in hybrid mode with participation from across the country, in the National Capital here.
The programme was also conducted physically at participating locations, bringing various health, safety, welfare and social protection services directly to SafaiMitras and sanitation workers.

A Senior Official in the Ministry of Social Justice And Empowerment said that enthusiastic participation was witnessed from States including Meghalaya, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala and Bihar, which organised health camps across their major municipal corporations as part of the Shivir.

He said the proactive involvement of the States helped bring health check-ups and related services directly to SafaiMitras and sanitation workers in their respective cities, who regularly face occupational health hazards in the course of their work.

The Official said the SafaiMitra Suraksha Evam Samman Shivir underscores the Government's commitment towards building a safer, healthier and more dignified sanitation ecosystem, while recognising the vital contribution of SafaiMitras and strengthening their access to welfare, social security and health protection measures.

The Official further said the Shivir witnessed extensive participation across the country, with 3,69,469 beneficiaries attending the programme. He added that as part of the initiative, 3,02,958 health check-ups were facilitated, providing sanitation workers with access to essential health services.

The Ministry Official added that a total of 2,24,521 NAMASTE Cards were downloaded by beneficiaries, while 57,967 Ayushman Cards were distributed to facilitate access to healthcare and social protection benefits.

The Official said the Shivir also facilitated 1,53,253 registrations under various Government schemes, enabling beneficiaries to connect with welfare and social security measures.

He said in a significant step towards strengthening occupational safety, 1,28,928 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kits were distributed among SafaiMitras across participating locations.

The Shivir was organised to recognise and honour the contribution of SafaiMitras and sanitation workers and to facilitate their access to health, safety, welfare and social protection measures.
The initiative brought multiple services together at the local level, enabling sanitation workers to access healthcare, safety equipment, Government schemes and social protection benefits through a common platform.

The extensive participation and achievements of the Shivir reaffirm the importance of coordinated efforts by the Central Government, State Governments, Urban and Rural Local Bodies and line departments in ensuring the last-mile delivery of healthcare, safety, welfare and social protection measures to sanitation workers.
