As part of Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) 2026, an Essay Writing Competition was organised at the Ministry of Textiles on 25 September 2026 on the theme “Swachhata Mein Sahbhag, Swachh Bharat Viksit Bharat.”

 

• To ensure maximum reach and engagement, activities of the campaign are being shared across social media platforms amplifying the message of cleanliness.

 

The Jute Corporation of India Limited (JCI)-

As part of the “Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign 2026,” the Jute Corporation of India Limited (JCI) undertook various cleanliness and awareness initiatives under the themes of “Sports for Swachhata & Post-Event Cleanliness,” “Clean Public Places,” and “Jan Bhagidari Advocacy.” These initiatives aimed to promote cleanliness, hygiene, environmental responsibility, and active public participation in creating cleaner and healthier surroundings.

The JCI Regional Office–Berhampore conducted a collective cleanliness drive at the Y.M.A. (Young Men’s Association) Sports Ground, Berhampore, Murshidabad district, West Bengal.

The Jute Corporation of India Limited (JCI), Guwahati Regional Office, in association with Uparhali DPC, organized a “Cricket Competition & Sports Ground Cleaning Drive” at Sarpara Playground, Uparhali, Kamrup, Assam. The initiative combined the spirit of sports with the message of cleanliness, encouraging community participation and promoting Swachhata as a Way of Life.

Simultaneously, the JCI Region Office -Siliguri conducted cleanliness drives at the Panjipara Football Ground and the Paschim Magurmari Primary School Playground, Dhupguri, Jalpaiguri, West Bengal.

The initiative focused on promoting cleanliness, hygiene, and environmental responsibility at public sports spaces. JCI officials and participants actively contributed to cleaning the sports ground and surrounding areas, reinforcing the importance of maintaining clean and healthy public spaces.

 

• JCI organized a Door-to-Door Collection Drive for Used Clothes under the theme “Jan Bhagidari Advocacy. The initiative aimed to encourage community participation, promote the reuse and responsible disposal of used clothes, and create awareness about sustainable waste management practices. The drive highlighted the importance of collective participation in building a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable society.

Encouraged employees to avoid disposable cups, plates and cutlery and use reusable bottles / cups during meeting and official events.

 

• CCIC organized Trimming / Pruning of trees in the premises New Delhi.

 

Textiles Committee-

The Textile Committee organized head quarter and regional office a workshop and demonstration session on the theme "Waste to Art" (featuring murals, sculptures, and decorative items) on 24 September 2026.

Office of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts)-

• Handicrafts organized Sanitation & Hygiene Standards: Deep cleaning and sanitization of washrooms and common facility areas.
• Floor & Common Area Maintenance: Machine scrubbing, deep cleaning, and polishing of high-traffic corridors and entrance lobbies.
• Plant & Machinery Area Upkeep: Comprehensive cleaning, dust removal, and water clearance in pump rooms, HVAC areas, electrical panel rooms, and utility zones.
• Basement & Ramp Sweeping: Cleaning of parking areas, driveways, rooftop, ramps, and stairwells.
• The activities ensured enhanced operational safety in technical rooms, clean common areas, and high standard sanitation facilities. Continual monitoring will be maintained to sustain these cleanliness standards.

 

 

National Jute Board (NJB)-

As part of the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign, the National Jute Board organised a cleanliness drive at Calcutta Jute Mill with the active participation of its officers and employees along with the workers of the jute mill. The cleanliness activities covered the inside and surrounding areas of the mill premises, with a focus on removal and proper disposal of accumulated waste and maintaining a clean and hygienic work environment.

During the programme, the waste management unit and dump yard of the mill were inspected to review the existing arrangements for collection, segregation, storage and disposal of waste. The need for timely disposal of waste and regular monitoring of the dump yard was emphasised to prevent accumulation and maintain cleanliness.

The initiative also promoted awareness among workers regarding cleanliness, responsible waste management and maintaining a litter-free workplace. The joint participation of the National Jute Board and jute mill workers reflected a collective commitment towards cleanliness, environmental responsibility and the objectives of Swachhata Hi Seva.
