The Department of Posts, Ministry of Communications, will undertake Special Campaign 6 for institutionalising Swachhata and minimising pendency in Government offices across its nationwide postal network. The campaign will comprise a Preparatory Phase from 15th to 30th September 2026, followed by the Implementation Phase from 2nd to 31st October 2026.

The Preparatory Phase will focus on identification of pending matters, weeding of obsolete records/files, assessment of redundant and scrap materials, inventory of e-waste, identification of offices/sites requiring focused intervention and setting of specific, measurable targets.

A key focus of Special Campaign 6 will be Scientific E-Waste Management, with the objective of “Effective Collection, Segregation and Disposal.” Postal Circles will undertake early assessment of obsolete electronic and IT equipment and ensure their segregation and disposal through the prescribed Producer/Recycler/Refurbisher mechanism, in accordance with the E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2022 and amendments thereof. Disposal will be through authorised channels with records of collection and disposal maintained.

Post offices and other postal establishments will undertake measures to identify repairable and non-repairable items, establish designated collection points and create awareness among employees regarding safe e-waste disposal.
