The 6th meeting of the Institute Finance Committee (IFC) of the National Homoeopathy Research Institute in Mental Health (NHRIMH), Kottayam, was held on September 14, 2026, under the chairpersonship of Ms. Alarmelmangai D., Joint Secretary, Ministry of Ayush, Government of India.

Ms. Alarmelmangai D. inaugurated the Skill Laboratory for postgraduate students at NHRIMH and visited the OPD and IPD facilities. She interacted with postgraduate students, staff and patients, and reviewed the Institute’s academic, research and patient-care activities.

The Institute Finance Committee (IFC) reviewed key areas relating to the financial, academic, research, infrastructural and administrative development of the Institute. It also reviewed the progress of decisions taken during the previous meeting and considered proposals related to institutional infrastructure, financial management, manpower requirements, academic facilities and research capabilities.

Strengthening the research ecosystem at NHRIMH was identified as a priority, with focus on expanding research programmes, upgrading laboratory infrastructure and developing facilities for advanced experimental and mechanistic research in neurological and psychiatric disorders.

The Committee also reviewed proposals for strengthening institutional capacity in line with the clinical, academic and research requirements of NHRIMH. The Committee encouraged greater collaboration with reputed national and State-level institutions through suitable MoUs to promote academic exchange, research partnerships and capacity building. The Committee also recommended organising a National Conference on World Mental Health Day.

Strengthening the quality of laboratory services was another key area of discussion. The Committee reviewed measures to enhance quality assurance mechanisms and take appropriate steps towards accreditation of laboratory facilities. Measures relating to energy efficiency, safety systems, maintenance and other essential infrastructure requirements were also considered.

The Committee stressed timely completion of approved works through effective coordination and close monitoring, with emphasis on financial prudence, quality and optimal utilisation of resources.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Preetha Kizhakkutil, Adviser (Homoeopathy), Ministry of Ayush, and Dr. Subhash Kaushik, Director General, CCRH, New Delhi. The meeting was virtually attended by Dr. Srinivas Rao Chinta, Joint Adviser (Homoeopathy), Ministry of Ayush, Shri Amarendra Singh, Director, Integrated Finance Division (IFD) representative and senior officials of Ministry of Ayush.

The meeting concluded with emphasis on strengthening NHRIMH’s research, academic and clinical capabilities through improved infrastructure, quality laboratory services, institutional collaborations and timely implementation of approved initiatives.
