Media plays an important role in spreading awareness about important government initiatives, particularly those concerning social welfare and public safety, said Shri Ashish Sangwan, IAS, District Collector & Magistrate, Kamareddy.

 

Addressing the ‘Vartalap’ Media Workshop organised in Kamareddy, Shri Ashish Sangwan said that effective communication and media outreach are essential for taking information about government initiatives and awareness messages to the wider public.

The workshop focused on two important themes — Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan and Cyber Security.

 

Speaking on the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, Shri Somanadham, DySP, Eagle Force, highlighted the need to create greater awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse and promote a drug-free society. The role of the media in sensitising youth, families and communities about the consequences of substance abuse was also emphasised by Shri Mukund Reddy, Excise Superintendent.

The second theme, Cyber Security, focused on creating awareness among citizens about cyber threats, online safety and responsible digital practices. The importance of remaining vigilant against cyber fraud and adopting safe practices while using digital platforms was highlighted by Shri Jagadish Babu, Senior Scientist, C-DAC.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Manas Krishnakanth, Joint Director, PIB, said that the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting is organising such outreach programmes to reach people in Tier-II and Tier-III cities and sensitise the public on important issues through the media.

Shri N.Y. Giri, Additional Collector, Local Bodies, Kamareddy, and Shri Shivacharan Reddy, Media & Communication Officer, PIB, attended the event.

The ‘Vartalap’ Media Workshop brought together media professionals and stakeholders for discussions on key issues of public interest and the effective dissemination of information and awareness messages to the public.
