Akashvani and Doordarshan Kendra Panaji today organised a press conference to highlight the Gems of India Challenge 2026, a nationwide initiative inviting content creators, videographers and storytellers to showcase India’s rich heritage, culture, traditions and tourism through short videos.

Addressing the press conference, Shri  Sandeep Srivastava, DDG, Akashvani and Doordarshan Kendra Panaji, urged Goan creators to actively participate in the challenge and use the platform to present the unique identity and cultural richness of Goa to audiences across the country.

Shri  Savio Noronha, Assistant Director (Programme), Doordarshan Kendra Panaji, and Shri  Sanjay Punalekar, Assistant Director (Programme), AIR Panaji, also addressed the media and highlighted the opportunities available to local creators.

Under the challenge, participants are invited to create an original 1 to 3-minute video showcasing Goa’s heritage, traditions, tourism destinations, local culture and stories. The initiative provides recognition and cash prizes at multiple levels, including ₹50,000 at the district level, ₹2 lakh at the state level and ₹5 lakh at the national level.

The challenge is being conducted from August 1 to September 30, 2026. Participants can register through the WAVES mobile application, access the “My Waves”section and submit their video through the relevant programme module.

The organisers appealed to Goan creators to capture the authentic spirit of Goa and share its diverse cultural and tourism heritage with the rest of India. The last date for submission is September 30, 2026.
