The Prize Distribution Function of the 58^th Youth Parliament Competition, 2025–26, organised by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs for schools under the Directorate of Education, Government of NCT of Delhi and the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), has been held today at the GMC Balayogi Auditorium, Parliament Library Building, Parliament House Complex, New Delhi.

Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Law and Justice and Minister of State for the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, presided over the function and distributed prizes to the winning schools and students for their commendable performance in the Competition.

During the programme, Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal interacted with the participating students and highlighted the important role of Youth Parliament in nurturing future leaders. He emphasised that such programmes help to inculcate leadership qualities and democratic values among young minds. He exhorted the students to pursue excellence in whatever field they choose, while remaining firmly guided by good values and a sense of responsibility towards the nation.

The Minister also encouraged students who could not secure prizes, stating that participation itself is an achievement and that every student can contribute to nation-building by imbibing democratic values and principles.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Nikunja Bihari Dhal, Secretary, Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, stated that the Youth Parliament Programme not only prepares future leaders but also develops critical thinking among students and familiarises them with democratic values. He emphasised that the programme promotes respect for diverse opinions and encourages students to appreciate differences of opinion, which is essential for a healthy democracy.

Earlier, in his welcome address, Dr. Satya Prakash, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, appreciated the efforts of the participating students and teachers. He stated that the Youth Parliament Programme inculcates democratic values and parliamentary ethos among the younger generation and to prepare them to become responsible citizens who can contribute meaningfully to the development of the nation.

Shri Sudhakar B. Gaikwad, Deputy Director of Education (School Branch) of Directorate of Education, Government of NCT of Delhi,  expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs for providing students an opportunity to participate in the Youth Parliament Programme. He stated that the programme is not merely a competition, but also an important means of developing discipline, fostering love for the country and inculcating positive values among children.

On the occasion, the winners of the 58th Youth Parliament Competition (2025–26), Bal Bharti Public School, Parwana Road, Pitampura, Delhi, presented a repeat performance of their Youth Parliament sitting which was appreciated by all gathering present in the Auditorium.

The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs has been organising Youth Parliament Competitions for schools in the National Capital Territory of Delhi for the past 60 years. Under the programme of Youth Parliament Competition for schools under the Directorate of Education, Government of NCT of Delhi and NDMC, the 58th Competition in the series was organized during 2025-26 in the National Capital Territory of Delhi.

The Youth Parliament Programme aims at inculcating among the younger generations the spirit of self-discipline, tolerance of diverse opinion, righteous expression of views, and other virtues of a democratic way of life. Besides, the programme also acquaints the students with the practices and procedures of Parliament, techniques of discussion and debate, and develops in them self-confidence, quality of leadership, and the art and skill of effective oratory.

The “G.V. Mavalankar Running Parliamentary Shield” and the Trophy for standing first in the Competition was awarded to BAL BHARTI PUBLIC SCHOOL, PARWANA ROAD, PITAMPURA, DELHI. The Trophy for securing first position amongst New entrant Schools was also awarded to Bal Bharti Public School, Parwana Road, Pitampura, Delhi.

Besides, Merit Trophies were awarded to the following 11 schools:

Shri Anil Kumar, Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, delivered the Vote of Thanks. He expressed gratitude to the distinguished guests, participating students, teachers, officials of the Ministry and all other stakeholders for their valuable contribution towards the successful conduct of the Competition. He also congratulated all participating schools and students for their enthusiastic participation and commendable performance in the Youth Parliament Programme.
