Higher education provides young students with opportunities to build a better future, but financial constraints and limited access to guidance can often create significant barriers. For 19-year-old Annu Supriya, pursuing B.Tech at the prestigious National Institute of Technology (NIT), Raipur, was a cherished dream. Coming from a financially challenged family, however, meeting the expenses associated with higher education was a major challenge.

Annu Supriya, an OBC/Teli student and first-year B.Tech student, faced several obstacles on her journey towards higher education. Her mother, a daily wage labourer, raised her single-handedly, making it extremely difficult for the family to manage the costs of higher education. Financial constraints also prevented Annu from joining an offline coaching institute for preparation for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE). Moreover, with no prior knowledge of engineering entrance examinations in her family, she became aware of the JEE and its preparation process relatively late.

Despite these challenges, Annu remained determined to pursue her academic aspirations. Her perseverance enabled her to secure admission to NIT Raipur, where she began her B.Tech journey and took an important step towards her goal of building a career in the technology sector.

Enabling Higher Education Through Financial Support

In 2025, Annu received financial assistance of ₹1,29,100 under the Top-Class Education Scheme. The scholarship significantly reduced the financial burden on her family and enabled her to continue her education at a premier institution. The support also provided her with greater confidence and motivation to focus on her studies and work towards her career aspirations.

Reflecting on the impact of the scholarship, Annu Supriya said:

Beyond academics, Annu is actively developing her technical and personal skills. She is learning C and C++ programming languages and exploring software development concepts and Data Structures and Algorithms (DSA). She also participates in extracurricular activities such as calisthenics and drawing, which contribute to her overall personality development.

Looking ahead, Annu aims to establish a successful career in the technology sector and contribute positively to society through her knowledge and skills. She also aspires to prepare for competitive examinations and pursue higher achievements in the field of computer science.

The journey of Annu Supriya demonstrates how targeted educational assistance can help students from financially challenged families access opportunities at premier institutions. Through the Top-Class Education Scheme, financial barriers are being reduced and deserving students are being empowered to pursue higher education, develop their capabilities and work towards building a brighter and more secure future.
