The Government of Goa today handed over ESI Hospital, Margao to the Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), Ministry of Labour & Employment, Government of India, at Panaji through the exchange of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was exchanged between Shri Rajesh Ajgaonkar, Commissioner, Labour & Employment, Government of Goa, and Shri Manish Kumar, Regional Director, ESIC Regional Office, Panaji, in the presence of Dr. Ravindra Narkhede, State Medical Officer, ESIC Regional Office, Goa; Shri Narendra Meena, Engineer, ESIC Regional Office, Goa; Dr. Pavitra Deshprabhu, Administrative Medical Officer, Government of Goa; and senior officials of ESIC and the Government of Goa.

With this transition, ESI Hospital, Margao will function as an ESIC Hospital, a significant step towards enhancing healthcare services for insured persons and their dependents.

The hospital is proposed to be upgraded into an ESIC Medical College & Hospital, further strengthening specialised healthcare, medical education and healthcare infrastructure in the Margao region and the state of Goa.
