DG NCC VISITS ALL INDIA NAU SAINIK CAMP 2026 AT INS SHIVAJI, INSPIRES OVER 600 CADETS

Lieutenant General Virendra Vats, YSM, SM, VSM, Director General, National Cadet Corps (NCC), visited the All India Nau Sainik Camp (AINSC) 2026 at INS Shivaji, Lonavala, today. He was accompanied by Major General Vivek Tyagi, Additional Director General, NCC Directorate Maharashtra.
On his arrival at INS Shivaji, the Director General was accorded a ceremonial Guard of Honour by smartly turned-out NCC cadets, reflecting the highest traditions of discipline, precision and military bearing that form the cornerstone of the NCC.

During the visit, the DG NCC witnessed the fiercely contested DK Whaler Boat Pulling competition and & was briefed on the conduct of Ship Modelling competition. The AINSC tests a cadet's core naval proficiency and theoretical foundation through a comprehensive service subject written exam and Health & hygiene exam. Professional lectures also assist to gain all round insight of Indian Navy and its operations. Technical seamanship skills are evaluated during practical boat rigging assessments and time-critical Semaphore exams, which measure speed and precision in visual flag signaling. The camp also builds raw endurance, focus and soldierly grit through gruelling DK Whaler boat pulling competitions that demand maximum synchronized physical effort and teamwork. Marksmanship is also tested through 0.22 rifle shooting competition.
Impressed by the high standards displayed, DG NCC commended the cadets for their training standards & professional acumen. He particularly appreciated the unwavering spirit, enthusiasm and resilience demonstrated by the participants despite the adverse weather conditions experienced throughout the preceding week. 612 NCC Naval Cadets including 204 girl Cadets, 26 Associated NCC officers (ANOs), 13 Girl Cadet Instructors (GCIs) & Services Instructors have been an integral part of various events conducted.
The DG NCC also carried out a comprehensive inspection of the accommodation, training facilities, instructional infrastructure and administrative arrangements established at INS Shivaji for the conduct of the camp. Expressing his satisfaction with the meticulous planning and flawless execution of the event, he conveyed his sincere appreciation to Commodore S Parthiban, Commanding Officer INS Shivaji, all officers, instructors and staff of INS Shivaji for their steadfast logistical, administrative and training support, which has been instrumental in ensuring the smooth, safe and successful conduct of the camp.
Addressing an impressive gathering of selected NCC Naval Cadets & instructors representing all NCC Directorates across the country, the General officer motivated the young cadets to remain steadfast to the NCC motto of "Unity and Discipline" and continue serving as ambassadors of national integration, character and selfless service.
Emphasizing the evolving nature of national security and technological advancement, the DG NCC encouraged the cadets to embrace futuristic and forward-looking domains such as Drone technology and Cyber awareness. He underscored the importance of developing technological competence alongside leadership, discipline and patriotism, enabling the youth to contribute effectively towards building a strong, secure and self-reliant India in pursuit of the national vision of Viksit Bharat @2047. DG NCC commended Maharashtra NCC Directorate on stellar conduct of the camp and INS Shivaji for their unstinted support. Results of this highly competitive event shall be declared during the closing ceremony on 12 June 2026.
