Over 123 Special Guests from Maharashtra set to attend 78th Independence Day Celebrations at the Red Fort in New Delhi

The nation will celebrate its 78th Independence Day on 15th August 2024. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will lead this celebration from the iconic Red Fort in Delhi where he will unfurl the National Flag and deliver the customary address to the nation from the ramparts of the historic monument. This year, the theme of Independence Day Celebrations (IDC) is 'Viksit Bharat'.


On the occasion, Special Guests from across the country have been invited by Government of India to attend the Independence Day 2024 celebrations in New Delhi. This also includes over 123 persons from Maharashtra. The special invitees belong to various sections of society including women, youth, farmers, tribals along with field functionaries and beneficiaries of various Government run schemes, winners of MyGov Independence Day Quiz and Special Invitees of Niti Aayog among others. 
Many of those invited will be visiting Delhi for the first time and have expressed their joy and pride on being invited to Delhi on this special occasion. 


“Participating in Self Help Group activities I have become a Lakhpati Didi. I have not only achieved economic independence but now I am also supporting my family. Due to this Government initiative I have gone from my ‘galli’ all the way to the capital ‘Dilli’. So I am very happy. I wish you all a very Happy Independence Day”, says Archana Khadse from Shahapur Mangrulpir in Washim District of Maharashtra. 

Kalpana Deshmukh form Linga Kotwal, Risod also in Washim exclaims, “I started my journey from a small village. I received training in Pune to become a Drone Didi and in this way I help farmers spray their fields. I have now been called to the Red Fort in Delhi for the flag hoisting ceremony. This is the biggest achievement of my life and I am full of gratitude. I thank the PM for the invitation.” 

Vithhal Chaudhari, a teacher from Hatarundi of Surgana Taluka in Nashik thanks the Government for choosing to invite him for the ceremony on 15th August. “Every year we celebrate Flag Hoisting in school. But this year we will celebrate it with the Prime Minister at Red Fort. I am honored and grateful”, he states.

Sarika Jain another teacher from Ladsawangi, Chatrapati Sambhajinagar said, “We are so excited! People like us who belong to far flung rural areas have only seen Delhi on TV. But today it is a privilege to come to Delhi and witness the Prime Minister hoisting our national flag. We thank the Government for also facilitating visits to historical places in Delhi.”


Pushkar Patil, from Buldhana says, “I didn't expected to get invitation at the age of 15 and this is a big thing for me. We have worked very hard under our Atal Innovation Mission project and I am pleased with its success.”

 

 

The Special Guests along with their spouses/companions will be in New Delhi from 13th to 16th August, 2024. They will visit important destinations in New Delhi like the Pradhan Mantri Sangrahalaya, Kartavya Path and other important monuments today, i.e.14th August, 2024. The invitations to these Special Guests aims to provide encouragement and recognition to their efforts towards ‘Vikasit Bharat’ in various fields.
