Doordarshan continues its dedication to delivering high-quality and engaging content to its diverse audience with the launch of four new television programmes. Scheduled to premiere in the first half of August 2024, these new shows will air on Doordarshan's Sahyadri and National Channels. A press conference to announce these upcoming programmes was held today, that is, August 2, 2024 at the Mumbai Press Club. Distinguished artistes associated with the projects, including Ms. Prithvi Kale, Ms. Iravati Lagoo, Sh. Nandu Gadgil and Sh. Anooj Kapoor attended the Press Conference.

The information was shared by Sri Sandeep Sood, Head of Programmes, Doordarshan, Mumbai, who has conceptualized and developed these programmes for DD-Sahyadri Channel. In the past one year, Shri Sood has introduced the now hugely popular programmes like a 28 episodes’ documentary series on veteran writer and film-maker Sai Paranjpye; the most relevant consumer awareness programme – Jago Grahak and Goshti Ganyanchya featuring well known Marathi lyricists and music composers. The 90th and 91st episode of Goshti Ganyanchya programme will feature Hridaynath Mangeshkar on 8th and 9th of August 2024.

The new programmes that will hit the screens of millions of viewers are:

1. Aamchi Ananya on DD Sahyadri.
2. Aamche He… Aamchi Hi on DD Sahyadri
3. Vachu Aanande on DD Sahyadri
4. Hum Toh Middle Class Hain Ji on DD National

• Aamchi Ananya – A Heartfelt Marathi Family Saga

Premiering on DD Sahyadri, Aamchi Ananya introduces viewers to the lively and endearing world of charming female protagonist named Ananya and her quirky Maharashtrian family. This show beautifully encapsulates the essence of Maharashtrian culture and traditions through a mix of humor and heartfelt moments, while incorporating the importance of the family's Kuladaivat (patron deity) in their lives. Aamche He… Aamchi Hi on DD Sahyadri, is a captivating chat show that features prominent celebrity couples from Maharashtra. Hosted by the renowned Ms. Smita Gavankar and produced by Niranjan Pathak, this show delves into the lives, relationships, and achievements of well-known couples from various fields including entertainment, sports, and business. Get inspired by their stories and insights as they share their personal journeys and experiences.

• Vachu Aanande – A Tribute to Marathi Literary Excellence

Vachu Aanande, airing on DD Sahyadri, is a unique talk show that celebrates the rich legacy of Marathi literature. Each episode features esteemed writers and celebrities reading excerpts from cherished literary works. Hosted by Dhanshree Damle and researched by Uttara Mone, this show will showcase readings from renowned authors such as P. L. Deshpande and Vijay Tendulkar, performed by celebrated artists. Dive into the world of Marathi literature and experience its beauty through engaging discussions and performances.

• Hum Toh Middle Class Hain Ji – A Light-Hearted Family Comedy

On DD National, Hum Toh Middle Class Hain Ji brings a delightful comedy series that mirrors the everyday joys and struggles of a middle-class family in India. Follow the Sharma family as they adjust to their new life in Mumbai after a transfer from Jhansi. The show combines humor with warm family values, making it a relatable and entertaining watch for audiences across the country.

This Serial is conceptualized & directed by Sh Aashwini  Gaddu, Script , Script / Screen play by Harish Patel & written by Rajesh Kolambkar. The lead cast is played by TV & Film actors Iravati Lagoo, Nandu Gadgil, Sanjivani Bhise & Supporting Characters are, Sachin Walunje, Deepa Amre, Pragati Bhosale, Aalap Tyagi, Vanita Nikam, Vinay Kamble, Rajesh Salvi & others. The title role Ananya is played by Prithvi Kale. The title song is sung by Raagini Kavathekar & music by Soham Marchant.

2. Aamche He… Aamchi Hi - A show features celebrity couples in Maharashtra.

To begin with, some of the famous & renowned personalities are:  Drama Producer Prasad Kamdi & Mrs Shilpa Kamdi; Actor/Director Jaywant Wadkar & Mrs Wadkar; famous gynacologist Dr Nandita Palsetkar & her gold businessman husband Pradeep Palshetkar; film choreographer Fulwa Khamkar & Masala King  Amar Khamkar.

The future celebrities, yet to be recorded are: famous builder Suresh Hawre & his wife; famous actress Alka Kubal & her husband; cinematographer Sameer Athaley, Kalnirnay owner Mr.Jayant Salgaonkar along with his wife.

3. Vachu Aanande

This show focuses on Marathi literature and renowned writers of the State. The selected portions / paragraphs of their writings, poetry etc will be read out by famous and celebrity personalities in the programme Vachu Aanande.  The show would celebrate the richness of Marathi literature and bring it to a wider audience through engaging discussions and captivating readings.

It is a unique talk show that honors the legacy of Marathi literature. Each episode features renowned writers and literary figures, along with famous celebrities from the entertainment field, who read selected paragraphs from their favorite works. The show aims to foster a deeper appreciation of Marathi literary heritage and inspire viewers to explore the richness of its literature.

Marathi literature has a glorious history, and we have a wealth of literature from many renowned authors and writers. This includes various genres such as stories, novels, poetry, plays, essays, travelogues, science fiction, children's literature, historical literature and folklore. This series aims to introduce readers to these diverse literary genres. We will be presenting selected readings from the works of famous literary figures. Esteemed

Artists will perform these readings.

The series will begin with selected readings from the works of famous authors like P. L. Deshpande, Vijay Tendulkar, V. P. Kale, and Saniya. These readings will be performed by well-known artists such as Atul Parchure, Anand Ingle, Tushar Dalvi, Sunil Barve, Sonali Kulkarni, Saurabh Gokhale, Prajakta Datar and Akshay Shimpi.

Each episode will include notable authors and performers, presenting readings from their works. Each episode will be half an hour long and will be aired twice a week. The show will be hosted by Dhanshree Damle. Uttara Mone is responsible for the research and coordination of the program. The producer of the show is Sh S.A. Maniyar.

4. Hum Toh Middle Class Hain Ji

Hum Toh Middle Class Hain Ji is the story of Ram Sharma who has been promoted as Assistant Manager of a Nationalized bank and transferred from Jhansi to Mumbai. Due to cultural, social, economic and geographical differences between the two cities, the family faces problems of adjustment. However, due to their positive attitude and strong bonding, they overcome all adversities and manage to live happily in Mumbai. The flavour of the show is light hearted and warm family comedy with positive family values.
