Students of National Institute of Technology (NIT), Goa, left for an exposure tour to Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bhilai, Chhattisgarh, as part of the third phase of Yuva Sangam initiative under Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat (EBSB) programme, today, 08.12.2023. The team, comprising 42 students and five faculty and staff members, embarked on the culture cum education tour from Madgaon railway station.

The Ministry of Education had kick-started the third phase of Yuva Sangam in November, which will have students studying in higher educational institutions in the age group 18-30 years from across the nation travelling to their paired states. Around 20 such tours will be conducted under the third phase.

Yuva Sangam, launched under EBSB, draws inspiration from the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and focuses on experiential learning and imbibing knowledge of the rich diversity of India on a first-hand basis. It is an on-going cultural exchange with the celebration of diversity at its core wherein participants gain an immersive experience of diverse facets of life, natural landforms, development landmarks, recent achievements, and youth connect in the host state. Twenty eminent institutions across India have been identified for Phase III of Yuva Sangam, where in NIT Goa has been paired with IIT Bhilai.

Yuva Sangam program aims to provide multi-dimensional exposure under five broad areas, which are: Paryatan (Tourism), Parampara (Traditions), Pragati (Development), Paraspar Sampark (People-to-people connect), and Prodyogiki (Technology). Under the program, youths will visit the paired states for five-seven days during which they will get an immersive experience of various facets of the state they are visiting and interact with the local youth.

The idea of a sustained and structured cultural connect between people of different regions was mooted by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi during the Rashtriya Ekta Divas held on 31st October 2015 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. To take this idea forward, EBSB was launched on 31st October 2016.

Given the overwhelming response received in the first two phases of Yuva Sangam, which saw more than 2000 youth participating, Phase 3 is also expected to witness immense vigor and enthusiasm.
