Central Financial Assistance given to 32 projects under Waste to Energy Programme since 2018-19: Union Power and New & Renewable Energy Minister

The Union Minister for New & Renewable Energy and Power has informed that the details of Central Financial Assistance (CFA) disbursed under Waste to Energy Programme during FY 2018-19, FY 2019-20, FY 2020-21, FY 2021-22, FY 2022-23, and FY 2023-24 (as on 30.11.2023) for setting up of Waste to Energy projects, are as given below.

Eight Biogas Development and Training Centres (BDTCs) have been established at India’s premier Institutions to provide Technical Assistance, R & D, Testing and Validation of New Biogas Models / Designs, field inspections of biogas plants, and training and skill development. Details of BDTCs are as given below.

Under the Waste to Energy Programme guidelines dated 02.11.2022, inspection of the plants for performance monitoring for a minimum of 3 consecutive months by designated inspection agencies is required before the release of Central Financial Assistance including a continuous operation of the plant for at least 72 hours, during which the plant must maintain an average operational capacity of 80% of its rated capacity.

In addition, developers are required to share with Ministry of New and Renewable Energy the generation data of the Waste to Energy plants through SCADA System or a remote monitoring system.

This information has been given by the Union Minister for New & Renewable Energy and Power Shri R. K. Singh, in a written reply to a question, in Lok Sabha on December 7, 2023.
