Ek Tareekh Ek Ghanta Ek Saath: Cleanliness Drives held Across Maharashtra by Central Bureau of Communication

In response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call for 'Ek Tareekh Ek Ghanta Ek Saath' Shramdaan as part of the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign, various field offices of the Central Bureau of Communication (CBC) in Maharashtra came together to embark on a journey towards cleanliness. These participative clean-up drives, lasting one hour each, were organized to promote the cause of cleanliness and environmental responsibility. The drives also witnessed the participation of various dignitaries, with Union Minister of State for Finance, Dr. Bhagwat Karad leading activities in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.
Speaking at the cleanliness drive organised by the Chhatrapati Sambajinagar Field Office of CBC, Dr. Bhagwat Karad commended the participants for their active involvement in this noble cause, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call to keep the environment clean. He stated that cleaning one's surroundings every day for 2 hours would be a good way of ensuring that less people fell sick. He also called for such cleaning drives to be transformed into a sustained mass movement. The drive was organized at Chhatrapati Sambajinagar (Aurangabad) caves, situated within the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University premises. This initiative brought together the Sambhajinagar ploggers, NYKS, NSS Govt College of Arts and Science, and the local unit of ASI.
In Solapur, the Central Bureau of Communication along with the Department of Archaeology, City Council, Women Self Help Group Tourism Awareness Committee, and others organised a cleanliness drive in the Upali Buruj area of Naldurg Fort. Tuljapur MLA Shri Rana Jagjit Singh Patil along with several other dignitaries attended.
Wardha witnessed a cleanliness drive at Acharya Vinoba Bhave Ashram's premises near the Dham river. Central Bureau of Communication Wardha, in collaboration with the district administration, Zilla Parishad Wardha, and other organisations, conducted the drive. Prominent figures like Member of Parliament Shri. Ramdas Tadas and Member of Legislative Assembly Shri. Pankaj Bhoir graced the occasion.
CBC Nashik engaged in a one-hour Shramdaan at Piplad village in Nashik district. The initiative encompassed cleaning the Waldevi dam area and a nearby cemetery. Smt. Alka Jobad, the village Sarpanch, and other dignitaries were present, highlighting the community's commitment to cleanliness.
In Nagpur, the CBC field office organised a cleanliness drive at Gandhisagar Lake Premises, garnering support from Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University's NSS Unit, Nagpur Municipal Corporation, and the NGO Lions Club of Nagpur. Dr. Subash Chaudhary, Vice Chancellor of the University, and other distinguished guests participated. The drive witnessed nearly 500 students, including NCC cadets, actively contributing to cleaning the garden premises, footpaths, and idol immersion spots.
In coordination with Trimurti Pawan Pratishtan Nevasapata, CBC Ahmednagar organised a clean up drive in the areas surrounding Dattasagar Lake and saw participation from NCC students, NSS students, teachers, and officials. A pledge for cleanliness marked the beginning of the event, and various authorities joined in. CBC also arranged dustbins and a selfie stand for the convenience of participants, emphasising the importance of sustained cleanliness efforts.
These cleanliness drives held across the state witnessed massive community participation and made significant contributions to the cause of Swachhata.
