Indigenisation Seminar (INDSEM 23) conducted at Naval Dockyard, Mumbai

Naval Dockyard (Mumbai), along with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI), conducted a Seminar cum Exhibition "INDSEM 23" on 27 Sep 2023 under the central theme "Self-Reliance Through Use of Indigenous Technology Towards Combat Readiness". Vice Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, AVSM, NM, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Naval Command was the Chief Guest for the event and also gave the keynote address. The programme was attended by approximately 200 delegates from the Industry/ Academia/ DRDO establishments.

In a first of its kind Exhibition cum Seminar held within the premises of Naval Dockyard, the industry partners showcased their indigenised technologies. The forum also included exploring potential opportunities for the Indian Navy to project participating industries, in a Business to Consumer (B2C) model. The Indian Navy also had a combined stall, where all end user requirements from ships, submarines and aircraft were projected to the Industry through direct interaction.

The seminar cum exhibition aimed to provide a platform for all stakeholders viz. Industry partners, PSUs, DRDO, BARC, ISRO and academia to showcase the indigenous capabilities and innovative solutions in keeping with the government’s vision towards ‘Aatmanirbharta’. Further, some of the success stories in indigenisation by ISRO, DRDO, BARC and other MSMEs were also presented to provide an insight for further deliberation towards evolving similar methodologies in the Indian Navy.

The seminar was addressed by Mr Arun T Ramchandani, Chairman FICCI, Mr Joe Mohan, Group Director, Resource Planning Group, BARC, Shri M Sankaran, Distinguished Scientist and Director UR Rao Space Centre, ISRO, Dr Chandrika Kaushik, Director General (Production Coordination & Services), DRDO and papers presented by Indian Naval personnel, academic institutes such as IIT (Mumbai) and BITS, Pilani.
