The details of students who availed ‘National Fellowship for SC students’, State-wise and year-wise for the last five years is given in Annexure-I.

The details of the annual amount spent upon the ‘National Fellowship for SC students’, State-wise year-wise expenditure for the last five years is given in Annexure-II.

The beneficiaries for the fellowship are selected through National Eligibility Test-Junior Research Fellowship (NET-JRF) of University Grants Commission (UGC) or University Grants Commission-Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (UGC-CSIR) NET-JRF joint test. Presently, both the eligibility test are being held by National Testing Agency (NTA) twice in a year for 2000 new Fellowships (1500 Junior Research Fellows for Humanities/ Social Sciences and 500 Junior Research Fellows for Science stream) per year for such Scheduled Caste students who undertake advanced studies and research leading to M.Phil/Ph.D Degrees. These (2000) slots are over and above the number of SC students selected under the normal reservation policy of the Government for UGC & CSIR Fellowships.
