Fit India Quiz 2022 to Award 3.25 Crore to Schools and Students Nationwide

Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports and Information and Broadcasting, Shri. Anurag Singh Thakur felicitated Fit India Quiz 2022 State round winners in Mumbai today(23rd July 2023). The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports hosted the felicitation ceremony for the winners, who were awarded cash prizes and certificates by the minister. 72 school students across 28 States and 8 UTs were felicitated. Under the Fit India Quiz a total of 3.25 crore is set to be awarded to schools and students.
Union Minister Shri. Anurag Singh Thakur extended his heartfelt congratulations to the winners and emphasized the significance of fostering an environment that encourages active participation in sports. Stressing the importance of sports and fitness in our daily lives, he highlighted the need for a well-structured ecosystem to promote sports and fitness. Minister Anurag Singh Thakur also urged parents, children and especially the youth to embrace a positive mindset towards sports engagement.
Highlighting the government's steadfast commitment to promoting sports and fitness, Shri Anurag Singh Thakur emphasized that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the importance of sports has been elevated in every aspect, from encouragement to funding. As a result of these efforts, Indian athletes have demonstrated exceptional performances at various international events, including the Olympics, bringing pride to the nation. He also added that he expects the country’s athletes to bring glory to the nation in the upcoming Asian games, winning medals and breaking records.
Underlining the escalating health issues among the young generation, he emphasized the necessity of dedicating some time every day to fitness activities, asserting that they are crucial for overall wellness. He urged the youth of the country to focus more on fitness as he highlighted the benefits of Yoga.
The Fit India Quiz, organized as part of the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat initiative, aims to create awareness about India's rich sporting history, fitness, and nutrition among school students. The quiz received a massive response in its second edition, with 61,981 students from 16,702 schools across 702 districts of India participating. Participation was drawn from different parts of country including, Andaman and Nicobar, Kargil, Lakshwadeep, Arunachal Pradesh and more. Significantly, there was a remarkable 70% increase in the number of students participating in the second edition, reflecting the growing interest and enthusiasm for sports and fitness among the youth. The second edition also drew significant participation from girl students, as they made up 39% of all contestants.
They winners will now compete in the national round of the Fit India Quiz that will be telecast on Star Sports and Disney Hotstar. The winning school from each State/UT received total prize money of Rs 2.5 Lakh, while the team of 2 students from the School was awarded a total of Rs 25,000. The State 1st Runner-up School received prize money of Rs 1 Lakh and the students a total of Rs 10,000. Similarly, the State 2nd Runner-up School got a cash award of Rs 50,000 and the participating students bagging a total of Rs 5,000.
About Fit India Quiz
The Fit India Quiz is a part of the Fit India Movement, which was launched by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi in 2019. The movement aims to make India a fitter and healthier nation. The Fit India Quiz 2022 is India’s biggest quiz on sports and fitness with the cash prize of ₹ 3.25 crore to school and students
The 2nd edition of the Fit India National Fitness and Sports Quiz for Schools was launched on 29th August last year on the eve of the National Sports Day by Union Minister for Youth Affairs & Sports and Information & Broadcasting Shri. Anurag Singh Thakur in the presence of Union Minister of Education and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan and Minister of State, Youth Affairs & Sports and Ministry of Home Affairs, Shri Nisith Pramanik. The quiz covers a wide range of topics related to India's rich sporting history, fitness, and nutrition.
