Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying implement various schemes across the country to supplement the efforts of the States/UTs for promotion of fisheries and Animal Husbandry sectors including rearing of cows and buffaloes

To supplement the efforts of the States/UTs for promotion of fisheries and Animal Husbandry sectors including rearing of cows and buffaloes, the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India implement various schemes across the country including Uttar Pradesh, such as (i) Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY), (ii) Fisheries and Aquaculture Infrastructure Development Fund (FIDF), (iii) National Programme for Dairy Development (NPDD), (iv) Dairy Processing and Infrastructure Development Fund (DIDF), (v) Supporting Dairy Cooperative and Farmer Producer Organizations (FPO) engaged in dairy activities, (vi) Dairy Entrepreneurship Development Scheme (DEDS), (vii) Animal Husbandry Infrastructure Development Fund (AHIDF), etc.

Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India is implementing Rashtriya Gokul Mission for development and conservation of indigenous bovine breeds since December 2014. The scheme is important in enhancing milk production and productivity of bovines to meet growing demand of milk and making dairying more remunerative to the rural farmers of the country. The scheme is continued under revised and realigned scheme of the Department from 2021-22 to 2025-26 with an allocation of Rs.2400 crore. The scheme is resulting in enhanced productivity and benefit of the programme, percolating to 80 million farmers engaged in dairying especially small and marginal dairy farmers.

The Department of Fisheries has approved project proposal at a cost of Rs.861.05 crore with Central share of Rs.270.84 crore for development of fisheries and aquaculture in the State of Uttar Pradesh under PMMSY since its inception in 2020-21. The major activities approved under the PMMSY inter-alia includes construction of ponds for taking up of aquaculture activities including inputs support in both freshwater and Inland Saline affected water areas, installation of cages/ pens for fish culture in reservoirs and open water bodies, integrated development of reservoirs, establishment of hatchery, construction of seed rearing area, establishment of Re-circulatory Aquaculture System (RAS), bio-floc tank and ponds, establishment fish feed mill, development of post-harvest infrastructure such as ice plants, cold storages, ice plants-cum-cold storages fish transportation and marketing infrastructures such as refrigerated and insulated vehicles, Ice-box with two/three wheelers, live fish vending units, fish kiosks, etc.
