AIIMS Nagpur will be celebrating its 4th Foundation Day on Monday, 19th of September 2022. The ceremony will be graced by the august presence of Chief Guest, Shri Nitinji Gadkari, Hon'ble Union Minister of Road Transport & Highways, Govt. of India, Guest of Honour, Shri Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister, Maharashtra and Shri Krupal Tumane, Member of Parliament, Ramtek, and President, AIIMS Nagpur, Professor (Dr) P.K. Dave.

AIIMS Nagpur, an institute of National Importance, with the motto for 'Passion for Excellence' has shown tremendous progress in the 4 years of its establishment, in the realms of patient care, academics, and research. Besides the broad specialities, various super-speciality services are now available. The institute saw the recent addition of super-speciality services, viz. Department of Burns and Plastic surgery, Neurosurgery, Hematology, Cardio-thoracic and Vascular Surgery (CTVS), Surgical Gastroenterology Surgical Oncology, Urology and Renal Transplantation. The OPD and inpatient services of existing super-speciality departments of Cardiology, Nephrology, Neonatology, Pulmonary Medicine, and Pediatric Surgery are functioning full-fledgedly. The IPD Complex is near completion and functional, replete with start-of-the-art, spacious wards, world-class operation theatres and Medical, Surgical, Pediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care Units. Besides OPD services, In-patient services have been started for all clinical departments. The deliverance of quality clinical care and performance of complex surgeries is note-worthy and well-appreciated by patients availing the hospital services. Thousands of patients have benefitted from the cashless facility through Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Jan Arogya Yojana (MJPJAY) and Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana Schemes with nearly 4 thousand beneficiaries since the implementation of the schemes at the institute.

AIIMS Nagpur also has a designated Dialysis Unit, under the Department of Nephrology, providing hemodialysis services (1426 in the last 6 months) and was among the very few institutes that provided hemodialysis services for patients with chronic kidney disease and COVID. Other new services initiated, including Knee and Hip replacement surgeries and the provision of free hearing aids under MJPJAY, Phototherapy services under the Department of Dermatology and Modified Electro-convulsive therapy (MECT) under the Department of Psychiatry are now available. The Department of Radiotherapy, is well equipped with the latest state-of-the-art equipment such High energy Linear Accelerator Elekta Versa HD, 4D CT Simulator Somatom RT and HDR Brachytherapy Flexitron aimed at treatment for all cancers at the lowest cost. PET Scan for cancer has now been made available under the Department of Nuclear Medicine since Mid-August. The Institute also has established a dedicated Blood Center, designed to meet the blood needs of the patients admitted to our hospital.
Telemedicine services such as patient teleconsultation services via application eVaidya AIIMS Nagpur and tele-medicine services i.e E-Sanjeevani services is being provided by specialists to 53 PHC, 2 Sub District hospital and 11 rural hospitals in rural Vidarbha region.
 

The academically vibrant campus of AIIMS has seen an increase in the strength of undergraduate students to 125 students from 50. The initiation of postgraduate programs in 16 departments and PhD programs in 11 departments will give an opportunity to many students across India to be associated with AIIMS, an Institute of National Importance. AIIMS Nagpur has also started a B.Sc Nursing programme with the admission of the first batch of 40 nursing students in the College of Nursing, this year.
 
The release of the institute magazine "Abhigyananm" will also be done during 4th Foundation Day celebrations. It will be followed by the distribution of awards to the meritorious students at the hands of esteemed dignitaries. MBBS student Mr Ashutosh Sahoo will be receiving "Shri Vidya Dutt Gold Medal" and Book prize for securing the highest marks in Anatomy. Mr Aditya Gupta and Mr Ashutsoh Sahoo will be sharing the "Smt. Ram Pyari Dutt Gold Medal" and book prize for getting the highest marks in Physiology. Mr Ashutosh Sahoo will also be awarded the "Uma Mishra Gold Medal" for being the topper in the first professional exam and Mr Tushar Pawar will be awarded the "Sh. Brinda Prasad Mishra Medal" for being a topper in 2nd professional examination. Few other students including Tushar Bansal, Shivali, and Priyanka will be receiving awards and cash prizes for their academic excellence.
 
AIIMS also participates in patient education and health awareness programs setting up diagnostic camps from time to time in peripheral regions of Vidarbha. The hospital has also participated in the Kayakalp assessment program and is in the process of NABH accreditation.
 
The establishment of a Sleep lab, Eye Bank, and the start of Bone marrow and renal transplant surgeries is in the pipeline. Mortuary facilities are underway and will begin shortly before the end of the year.
 
With its state-of-the-art facilities and ultra-modern infrastructure AIIMS will foster medical tourism in the true sense.
