Mumbai Customs Zone-II, Nhava Sheva celebrated International Customs Day today, 27th January,2022 with wide participation from members of Trade & Customs Community. This year has been dedicated to scaling up “Customs Digital Transformation by Embracing a Data Culture and Building a Data Ecosystem”.

The Virtual Outreach with Trade and Stakeholders showcased various path breaking reforms undertaken by Indian Customs for the ‘Ease of Doing business’, COVID time facilitative measures, and numerous IT initiatives taken by the Zone like EODB Score card for Customs Brokers (CB), One Time Default Intimation (OTDI) for DPD clients, Scan Status Module, EODB Sample Tracking facility, QR Code based Sampling Solution, Web-form to request specified items of work. A feedback session followed the Virtual Outreach where the stakeholders shared their congratulatory messages, and also aired their suggestions. The Virtual Outreach was also telecast LIVE on youtube.

The Panel Discussion with officers on “Scaling up Customs Digital Transformation by Embracing a Data Culture and Building a Data Ecosystem” generated numerous innovative ideas. An International Customs Day Quiz was hosted online on the Mumbai Customs Zone-II website for wide participation of officers and trade.

World Customs day is observed on the 26th of January every year. This day is celebrated to mark the official inaugural session in 1953, of the Customs Cooperation Council, which was renamed as World Customs Organisation (WCO) in 1994.
