A Mini Marathon 'Run for Fun' was organised by Indian Armed Forces today as a precursor event to arrival of Victory Flame (Vijay Mashaal) in Colaba, Mumbai. The Victory Flame which was lit in Delhi to commemorate Golden Jubilee year celebration of the Indian Armed Forces' resounding victory over Pakistan in the 1971 Indo-Pak war. The Victory Flame will reach to Mumbai in first week of September.
The ‘Run for Fun’ was organised to promote spirit of bonhomie and create awareness amongst the citizens of ongoing year long celebrations by Indian Armed Forces. More than 400 participants including soldiers, their families and NCC cadets participated in event.
Lt Gen SK Prashar, AVSM, VSM, General Officer Commanding Maharashtra, Gujarat & Goa Area presided over the event which was flagged in at Colaba Military Station. The Mini Marathon started in the early morning hours from the picturesque Nariman Point covering a distance of over 10 Km. The event reignited deep sense of patriotism amongst participants which was evident from the zeal and enthusiasm with which they took part in the ‘Run for Fun’.
