7th International Day of Yoga brought alive at the historic Aga Khan Palace and Kanheri Caves by small groups of 20 yoga enthusiasts

        The 7th International Yoga Day which falls on today (June 21, 2021) has been celebrated at the historic Aga khan Palace in Pune and Kanheri Caves in Mumbai. These sites are centrally protected monuments of National Importance under Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). These are under jurisdiction of ASI, Mumbai Circle.

       On the  occasion, twenty participants performed yoga asanas at the Aga Khan Palace in the presence of  Dr. Milan Kumar Chauley, Superintending Archaeologist, Aurangabad Circle with additional charge of  ASI Mumbai Circle. The participants in the 45-minute yoga session included ASI officials and staff members performed meditative yoga under the guidance of an instructor.   Subsequently, a Cultural Show was organized by Nagpur-headquartered South Central Zone Cultural Centre,  which included Lazim dance performed by Pravin Bhatt and the Lazim Group from Pune. and a martial arts called ‘Shivkalin Yuddha Kala’ performed by AKKI Martial Group from Pune.

          Similarly, at the Kanheri Caves, located within the Sanjay Gandhi National Park in  Mumbai, 20 participants performed yoga in the presence of ASI Mumbai Circle officials and others. Subsequently a Cultural Program by classical dancer Sharvari Jamenis was organized by the Sangeet Natak Akademi.
