Republic Day Parade - 2005

"Republic Day" is celebrated on 26 Jan every year to commemorate sovereignty of the Nation.. On this day in 1950, our country became Republic and Constitution in its present form was formally adopted.

  A grand parade will be organised in National Capital at Rajpath to commemorate the Republic Day. His Excellency Dr A P J Abdul Kalam, The Hounourable President of India, will take the salute. His Excellency Sri Jigme Singhe Wanchuk, King of Bhutan, will be the Chief Guest on the occasion. The Parade will also be graced by several National and Foreign Dignitaries.

  A large number of contingents from Armed Forces, Police, Para Military Forces and Ex-Servicemen will form part of Marching Contingents. Mounted and Mechanised Columns including equipment from DRDO will also be displayed. State Tableaux from 22 States and School Children Pageants from eight Schools of Delhi will also perform in the Parade. Seven Serving and Retired Param Vir Chakra and Ashok Chakra awardees have confirmed their availability and willingness to be included in the Mounted Columns. For the first time, Hydrema Demining Vehicle and Mat Grnd Surface CL-70 will be displayed in the above Parade.

 The Parade will be led by Major General Thomas Mathew, GOC Delhi Area. He will be followed by Parade Second-in-Command, Brigadier S P Rai, Deputy GOC Delhi Area. The event will be accorded Grand Finale by Motor Cycle Display by ASC Torenadoes. An impressive Fly Past by Indian Air Force will mark the culmination of the Parade.
