Army Vice Chief launches DGQA Website
The Vice Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Noble Thamburaj launched the website of the Directorate General of Quality Assurance (DGQA) here today. The DGQA, an Inter-Service Organisation functioning under the Ministry of Defence, ensures the best standards for all weapons, equipment and defence stores, both indigenous and imported, acquired for the Army, Navy (barring Naval Armaments) and common user items for the Air Force.
The DGQA web portal is available on the secured and restricted Army Intranet. This is apart from the DGQA public web link available on the Ministry of Defence website. Lauding the efforts of the DGQA to reach out to the Services, General Thamburaj said that the Army is the single largest customer of the DGQA. The new website would ease communication with the field formations and remove the apprehensions field commanders have about the DGQA, he added. Considering the DGQA’s contribution from a manufacturing role to the absorption of hardware into the Services, General Thamburaj said that the Army has mooted a proposal to take the DGQA out of the Department of Defence Production and bring it under the purview of the Chiefs of Staff Committee or the Army with an aim to make it a catalyst for force multiplier.
Lt. General Jasbir Singh Dhillon, Director-General of Quality Assurance, said the new web portal would bring about synergy between various organs of the Defence Ministry. With its motto “Service to the Services”, the DGQA strives to move from “Customer Satisfaction to Customer Delight,” he added. The DGQA’s new secured website has complete technical specifications, maintenance instructions and related technical details of the inventory, besides being an interactive platform for decision making with the field commanders.
