Dasmunsi presents Bhartendu Harishchandra Awards

ALOK MEHTA, USHA YADAV, SUSHILA KUMAR & PROF. MADHU SUDAN WIN FIRST PRIZE
The Union Minister of Information & Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs, Shri P. R. Dasmunsi today presented the Bhartendu Harishchendra Awards to sixteen writers and journalists in Hindi language. Speaking on the occasion, Shri Dasmunsi said that Bhartendu Harishchandra made a major contribution in the development of Hindi journalism. Felicitating the winners, he said, simplification of language would ensure further spread of Hindi language. The Minister lauded the role of Publications Division in promoting Hindi and other regional languages through several of its publications.

For Journalism and Mass Communication for the first prize is being awarded to Shri Alok Mehta for his book “Patrakarita Ki Laxman Rekha” Shri Arvind Mohan has bagged the second prize for his book “Patrakaar Aur Patrakarita Prashikshan”. The third prize goes to Shri Chandra Bhushan for his manuscript “Pustak Prakashan : Vividh Aayam”. Five consolation prizes go to Shri Bachhan Singh, Prof. Ramesh Kumar Jain, Shri Ram Sagar Shukla, Shri Mahavirji Singhal and Dr. Kaushal Sharma. The first prize carries Rs. 35,000/-, second prize Rs. 25,000/-, third prize Rs. 20,000/- and consolation prize Rs. 5,000/-, besides a citation.

In Children Literature category the first prize goes to Ms. Usha Yadav for her manuscript “Kile Ka Rahasya” and the second prize to Dr. Ranjana Agarwal for her manuscript “Machhar Ne Samajhaya” and Dr. Pushpa Saxena for her manuscript “Maati Ke Tare”.

In the Women Issues category, Ms. Sushila Kumari bagged the first prize for her manuscript “Aadhi Duniya Ka Sach” while Ms. Jhumpa Mete got the second for her manuscript “Media Aur Nari Muddey”.

In the National Integration category, the first prize has been given to Prof. Madhu Sudan Tripathi for his manuscript “Gandhi Darshan – Rashtriya Punaruthan Ke Liye” and the second prize goes to Dr. Birjgopal and Dr. S. Akhilesh for their jointly written book “Sawatantrta Aandolan”. For all the three categories, the first prize consists of Rs. 15,000/- and the second prize of Rs. 10,000/- each.

Bhartendu Harishchandra Awards are being awarded since the year 1983. From the very beginning Publications Division of the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting is implementing these awards. The awards for National Integration, Women Issues and Children Literature were added to this scheme in 1992.

Secretary (I&B), Shri S. K. Arora in his remarks hoped that Publications Division would keep up its pace of progress forward in the coming years also. Director, Publications Division, Smt. Veena Jain welcome the guests and congratulated the winners.
