Vice President Shri Shekhawat exhorts doctors to create awareness about TB
The Vice-President, Dr. Bhairon Singh Shekhawat expressed concern that today, 40 years after treatment for its eradication was discovered, Tuberculosis (TB) continues to pose a major problem for the patients, especially the poor stressing the urgent need of creating public awakening about this disease. He said, that ignorance gave rise to myths and stigma that further compound the hardships faced by the poor patients. He urged that private doctors, media and government agencies must join hands in educating the people. He stressed the need for providing free medical care to all the poor patients.
The Vice-President was addressing doctors from IMA Faridabad, who presented him a copy of “The Test of Time”, a book on TB-control by Dr. Raman Kakar, well known for creating several innovative tools for TB-awareness.
