Doordarshan and Akashvani Serve Diverse Linguistic and Cultural Communities Through Their Programming and Nationwide network
List of Empanelled Newspapers and Magazines in Jammu & Kashmir and the Advertisement Expenditure Data Available on CBC Website
The details of total number of CBC (earlier DAVP) empanelled newspapers and magazines in Jammu & Kashmir (as per the classification sought), are available on the website of CBC i.e. www.davp.nic.in.
Information on advertisements issued to these publications and the expenditure incurred during the last five years is also available on the same website.
The Doordarshan Network serves diverse linguistic and cultural communities through telecast of programmes in regional languages and dialects on its seven National Channels and twenty-eight Regional/State Channels.
Dedicated channels or channels having Eighth Schedule languages as their main language exist for Hindi, Bengali, Telugu, Marathi, Tamil, Urdu, Gujarati, Kannada, Odia, Malayalam, Punjabi, Assamese, Kashmiri, Konkani and Manipuri.
Further, Programmes in Sanskrit, Sindhi, Nepali, Bodo, Dogri, Maithili and Santhali are also telecast through various Regional/State Doordarshan channels.
In the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir, programmes are telecast through DD Kashir and Prasar Bharati Field Generating Station (PGF) Jammu.
Doordarshan channels operating in Sixth Schedule areas telecast programmes in the respective regional and tribal languages and dialects. The duration of such telecasts varies as per the approved programme schedules.
Akashvani, in accordance with its Language and Dialect Policy, broadcasts programmes and regional news in all the twenty-two languages included in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution. It also does so in local tribal languages and dialects in areas covered under the Sixth Schedule, through stations located in the respective regions.
The daily broadcast time is as per the approved broadcast schedules of the channels and stations.
Dr. L. Murugan, Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs, submitted the information in the Rajya Sabha today in response to a question raised by Shri Gulam Ali.
