The PM e-Bus Sewa-Payment Security Mechanism (PSM) Scheme, with total outlay of Rs.3,435.33 crore was notified on 28^thOctober, 2024. This scheme aims to support deployment of more than 38,000 electric buses. As on 15^thDecember, 2025, 13 States/UTs have submitted the Direct Debit Mandate (DDM) to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), which is an essential requirement to be eligible under the scheme.

Further, CESL invited tenders for 6,198 electricbuses which were concluded under the PM e-Bus Sewa scheme of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. As on date, Letter of Award (LoAs) for 4,472 e-buses have been issued by the Public Transport Authorities (PTAs).

Further, technical bids for tenders invited by CESL from e-bus operators for the operation and maintenance of 10,900 e-buses under the PM E-DRIVE Scheme have been opened.
