Proceeds of crime worth over Rs. 69,000 crore attached during the last four years under the PMLA, says Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh

Since 2014, proceeds of crime worth Rs. 1,16,792 crore attached and assets amounting to more than Rs. 16,637 crore confiscated under the PMLA: Dr Jitendra Singh

Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh said today, the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) under the Department of Revenue has provisionally attached proceeds of crime amounting to Rs. 69,045.89 crore during the last four years (01.04.2019 to 31.03.2023), under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002 (PMLA).

The Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Science & Technology; MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha, said four persons have been extradited to India by the Directorate of Enforcement from 01.01.2019 to till date and extradition orders in respect of three more persons have been passed by the Competent Courts.

During the period from 01.01.2014 to 31.10.2023, the Directorate of Enforcement has provisionally attached proceeds of crime amounting to Rs. 1,16,792 crore and confiscated assets amounting to Rs. 16,637.21 crores under the PMLA, he said.

Further, assets amounting to Rs. 16,740.15 crores have been attached under Fugitive Economic Offenders Act, 2018 and assets amounting to Rs. 15,038.35 crores have been confiscated thereunder.
