DGCA has undertaken a special drive of spot checks on aircraft of scheduled airlines

Government receives reports on occurences from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), the aviation safety regulator. DGCA conducts regular surveillance, safety spot checks and audits on the airlines. In light of increased occurrences, DGCA has undertaken a special drive of spot checks on aircraft of scheduled airlines. In addition, safety audits of all airlines have been carried out to see availability of spares, manpower and mandatory technical documents.

The findings of the spot checks/ audits are communicated to the airlines and action to address the same is ensured. In case of violations, enforcement action is taken in the form of warning, suspension, cancellation of approval/ license of personnel/ airline.

This information was given by the Union Minister for Civil Aviation Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia in a written reply to a question in Lok Sabha today.
