Two surveys have been conducted at the initiative of the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment during the year 2013 and 2018 for the identification of Manual Scavengers. State-wise details of eligible identified manual scavengers are at Annexure.

The details of the number of eligible manual scavengers (MS), identified in Jharkhand, district-wise is given as follows:-

With a view to identify the manual scavengers left from identification, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has launched a mobile app “Swachhata Abhiyaan” on 24.12.2020 to capture the data of insanitary latrines still existing and manual scavengers associated with them. Any person can upload the data of insanitary latrines and manual scavengers on the mobile app. Thereafter, the data is verified by the concerned district administration. However, not a single insanitary latrine has been confirmed so far after the launch of the App.

The SRMS scheme is demand driven, there is no proposal from the State Channelizing Agency (Jharkhand State SC Cooperative Development Corporation) of Jharkhand for the release of Capital Subsidy for Self Employment Projects of beneficiaries under SRMS.
